The Rules Have Changed

To everyone —

We are living through rapid technological change that is challenging, altering, and eliminating established rules, jobs and expectations.

Meanwhile, we race to determine what to preserve, what to question, what to adopt, and what to stop.

It reaches into nearly every aspect of our lives.

And yes, it is disconcerting.

To my fellow lawyers — our job is different.

Like everyone else, we have spent years buying technology, training on tools, calculating workflow ROI, and being warned that AI will replace us.

But given our sworn oaths, professional responsibilities, duties to our clients, and responsibilities to the courts, our job is different.  We know our consumption of technology requires more of us.  Our technological evolution must be different too.

Created by a lawyer and law professor, TechTango helps lawyers strengthen their ability to evolve with exponential technological change — not merely memorize where technology stands today.

Our programs meet you exactly where you are — cutting through noise, simplifying what matters, so you can better discern, on your terms, what and how technology gets to touch your practice.

But TechTango doesn't stop with legal professionals.  We work with highly regulated organizations, other professional services, policymakers, educators, founders, operators, and SMBs navigating the continuing evolution of technology, risk, and human judgment.  Your business becomes your classroom — building the clarity, confidence, and discernment to navigate change on your terms.

Coming Up

Mosh Pit Tango: October 7

A free discussion about navigating rapid technological change by putting agency and discernment ahead of the multiple points of friction, exponential technological growth, geopolitics and financial markets.

The Era of Tech Turbulence
Your Agency as Your Survival Tactic

Technology is moving faster than law, institutions, markets, organizations, and people can absorb.

The tools are more powerful and invasive.
Legal guardrails are uneven, absent or ignored.
Markets and geopolitics shape what gets built, financed, restricted, and deployed.

And somebody still has to exercise judgment.

For lawyers and other professionals, that somebody is usually you.

You remain accountable for the advice, the decision, the contract, the risk, and the consequences — even when you did not design the technology and do not control the people or systems influencing the outcome.

That is the mosh pit.

So how do you move through it?

  • Not by assuming AI will save time when your professional obligations require you verify its output, erasing those time savings.
  • Not by blindly adopting technology or outsourcing your judgment to third-party advice.
  • Not by reflexively rejecting it. (If it were only so easy.)
  • And, not by assuming that a vendor, regulator, client, executive, politician, or LLM has figured everything out for you.

Instead, you strengthen your agency.

You learn enough to interrogate these colliding systems and decide what to preserve, what to question, what to adopt — and what to stop.

No hype.  No panic.  No pretending everything is fine.

Technology may be changing the rules.

But it does not get to make decisions for you.

It’s your party — not the gatecrashers’.

Your tech.  Your tango.  Let's dance.
